Tiny, anti-communist Honduras braces for worst vs Obama-Chavez-UN monolith
By Cliff Kincaid, Accuracy in Media

The United Nations on July 23, begins a debate over a new U.N. military doctrine called the “Responsibility to Protect,” which would authorize the world organization to be used as cover to intervene in the sovereign affairs of a nation state, supposedly to protect the people of a country against their own government. The first target could be anti-communist Honduras.

The “Responsibility to Protect,” also known as RtoP or R2P, is supported by the World Federalist Movement, a group dedicated to world government by strengthening the United Nations system. It is the major force behind the “International Coalition for the Responsibility to Protect.”

R2P was sold as something to be exercised against regimes practicing genocide against their own people. But the new doctrine is so vague and subject to political manipulation that one can speculate it could be used to justify some form of U.N. intervention in Honduras on the pretext that the people there are somehow being victimized by a popular military-backed regime. In fact, some Hondurans are telling this columnist that they are fearful that U.N. “blue helmets” are right now being prepared to invade their country. Read more.

OBAMA'S DWINDLING POWER

By DICK MORRIS
Superficially, the United States appears to have a presidential system, but in fact it more and more resembles a parliamentary form of government. When a president loses the approval of the majority of the voters and polls reflect that his ratings have fallen substantially below 50 percent, he loses his power. In this context, polls are like parliamentary votes of no confidence in European systems. While the government does not fall if it loses in the polling, it limps on until either its ratings improve or it is voted out of office at the next election.

Clinton was called "irrelevant" after the congressional defeats of 1994, when his ratings hovered in the high 30s. Bush seemed almost out of power in the last years of his administration, when his approval dropped to the low 30s.

Now Obama faces the loss of power that comes with dropping poll numbers. The two early symptoms of this creeping impotence are his inability to pass the union card-check legislation or to force action on healthcare before the August recess, once highly touted administration goals.

As is usually the case, the apparent .... Continue Reading

The Most Destructive Disease

The Most Destructive Disease
Cato Institute: Commentary
by Richard W. Rahn

Richard W. Rahn is a senior fellow at the Cato Institute and chairman of the Institute for Global Economic Growth.

Washingtonosis(n): a disease most often found in people working within three miles of the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, although pockets also are found in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. It tends to infect elected officials, government bureaucrats, those working in the media, "government relations specialists," association executives and even top corporate executives.

Symptoms include an overwhelming desire to associate and be seen with those in power or those perceived to have power and/or fame. Those infected tend to lose judgment, values, principles and sense of honesty as well as common sense. They say silly things like, "I will vote for (or support) this (1,000-page) bill because it is absolutely necessary to protect the American people and we must do it now" — having never read the bill, having only a vague idea of its provisions, having no idea whether it will do more good or harm and having no idea of what a billion dollars is, let alone a trillion dollars.

The AMA has been out of step with many of its members for years and represents less than one-quarter of the nation's doctors.

Last week, officials of the American Medical Association (AMA) revealed that they had caught the disease. They endorsed the House version of the .....

Obama loses support on reform

Mayo Clinic calls House plan bad medicine
Washington Times
"A world-renowned clinic that President Obama held up as an example of good medicine said Monday that the American people would be "losers" under the House's health care proposal, joining the growing chorus of critics the Obama administration is trying to fend off as the debate intensifies from Capitol Hill to Main Street."

We arguably have the best health care system in the world. We are responsible for most of the technological advancements, advancements in treatment, and drug discoveries. There is a cost to this. Our health care has become expensive, and continues to escalate. We need to address the problem.

No matter what the changes are, our system will not be perfect. Nothing ever is. But Obama does not want to fix it. He wants to destroy it, blow it up. And start over, and make it in the image of the failed European and Canadian socialist models.

I can't help but be reminded of his famous quote leading up to the election:
"America's the greatest country in the world - now help me change it"

THE ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE OBAMACARE

A must read.
Written By Dr. Dave Janda

As a physician who has authored books on preventative health care, I was given the opportunity to be the keynote speaker at a Congressional Dinner at The Capitol Building in Washington last Friday (7/17).

The presentation was entitled Health Care Reform, The Power & Profit of Prevention, and I was gratified that it was well received.

In preparation for the presentation, I read the latest version of "reform" as authored by The Obama Administration and supported by Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid. Here is the link to the 1,018 page document:
http://edlabor.house.gov/documents/111/pdf/publications/AAHCA-BillText-071409.pdf

Let me summarize just a few salient points of the above plan. First: The underlying method of cutting costs throughout the plan is based on rationing and denying care. There is no focus on preventing health care need whatever. The plan's method is the most inhumane and unethical approach to cutting costs I can imagine as a physician.

BRAVE LITTLE COUNTRY

Dr. Jack Wheeler writes:

"On July 30, 1502, on his fourth voyage to what he thought were newly-discovered lands in far eastern Asia, Christopher Columbus (1451-1506), reached an island which he called Guanaja, low-land.

Sailing due south, he soon came upon a massive coastline which he knew was no island. He also came upon a massive storm. Racing east in the deep waters along the coast, he reached a cape which provided him protection.

"Gracias a Dios!" he exclaimed. "Que hemos salido de estas honduras!" Thanks to God, we have escaped these treacherous depths.

On a beach of what his men now called Gracias a Dios Cape, he held a mass to commemorate his salvation, and in a solemn ceremony, claimed the territory and adjacent island for the Kingdom of Spain in the name of his sovereigns, Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castille. Columbus' men named the land Honduras.

507 years later this land is being demonized for its devotion to democracy and freedom.

Instead of being applauded for adhering to its democratic laws and avoiding their demise, much of the so-called Free World - the UN, the EU, and the US via the White House - joined with the Communist World led by Chavez and Castro to hysterically denounce Honduras instead.

This, folks, is a terrifying wake-up call as to the extent the forces of darkness are gaining strength, and the forces of freedom are cowering in retreat. All of sudden out of nowhere, little Honduras catalyzes this process and becomes a pivot point in the struggle between good and evil on earth."

Report: 5,000 pirates recruited for Gulf region
MOSCOW — Russian military intelligence has assessed that more than 5,000 Somali pirates are operating in the Gulf region.

Officials said military intelligence concluded that thousands of Somalis were recruited for piracy operations in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea and Gulf. They said the assessment estimated that more than 5,000 pirates were operating in the Gulf of Aden near Yemen.

"Pirates have become more daring and aggressive recently," Russian Navy deputy commander Vice Adm. Oleg Burtsev said. "There were instances when they seized vessels right in front of the ships that were responsible for the security of commercial shipping."

Obama hold on records raises hypocrisy charge

Visitor names released after uproar over health care meetings
After lampooning the Bush administration for secrecy, President Obama used the same legal arguments as his predecessor to block the release of logs showing which industry executives met with the White House to help formulate his health care policy. The new administration abruptly reversed course Wednesday evening after being accused of hypocrisy and released a list of more than a dozen meeting attendees.

Obama has the CIA's back -- in his sights

Democrat's attack on covert anti-terror plan won't please Americans
Washington Times
By John R. Bolton

The Obama administration and its congressional supporters committed major blunders last week by canceling, leaking and then deciding to investigate a highly classified program to eliminate al Qaeda leaders. Although much remains hidden from public view, the controversy highlights peculiarities in President Obama's view of his responsibilities as commander in chief.

Just As Intended

'The Big Lie' and the gullible press.
By Dan Kennedy
Business & Media Institute

Twice in the past week or so President Obama has insisted that his $780 billion-and-then-some stimulus package is working “as intended” and “as anticipated.”

Apologists and defenders in his administration and in the media scurried to give him cover on this. Read more.

Uncritical Condition

BMI Special Report
Network news fails to examine high cost and proven failures of government-run health care

President Obama is running a full court press to get a health care “reform” bill passed before Congress’ August recess, and he’s gotten plenty of help from the networks. ABC, CBS and NBC joined Obama’s campaign for health care change favoring proponents by more than 2-to-1, barely discussing “exorbitant” costs, exaggerating the number of uninsured and failing to compare ObamaCare to the problems of similar government programs. The Age of the Labor Faker

By Robert Ringer
As cap and trade, universal health care, new bailouts, and more welfare programs are forced through a Congress too arrogant to read its own bills, the question is: Will a majority of Americans continue to sit by apathetically with a “Gee, what if the new ‘stimulus plan’ doesn’t work?” attitude — or will they grow up, get their heads out of the clouds, and take to the streets to peacefully protest?

Alert the media: Nothing this collectivist government does will work! Base your actions accordingly. Continue reading more.
